The Bi-Co Orchestra Performs Dvořák and Bernstein

The Bi-College Orchestra, conducted by Associate Professor of Music Heidi Jacob, performed Leonard Bernstein’s Overture to Candide and Antonin Dvořák’s Symphony No. 8 in the majestic Marshall Auditorium for free last Friday night.

Attending a major orchestra concert can leave quite the dent in a ticket buyer’s wallet, putting such concerts out of reach for many college students on a budget. Thankfully, Haverford’s Department of Music offers affordable alternatives for classical music lovers. Last Friday, the Bi-College Orchestra, conducted by Associate Professor of Music Heidi Jacob, performed Leonard Bernstein’s Overture to Candide and Antonin Dvořák’s Symphony No. 8 in the majestic Marshall Auditorium for free.

The fanfare of Bernstein’s Overture acted as a nice complement to the grandiosity of Dvořák’s sentimental symphony. As always, the well-rehearsed musical work of the Bi-College Orchestra combined with the wonderful acoustics in Marshall Auditorium for a beautiful performance.
The campus orchestra will perform again in April and, as usual, the Department of Music  will host other events including the free Bi-College Chorale performance on Dec. 4 at 3 p.m. in Marshall Auditorium.
