On Monday, November 21, composer and Ruth Marshall Magill Professor of Music Curt Cacioppo and his friend, pianist Emanuele Arciuli, presented a colloquium celebrating Native American art and music. The colloquium, which spanned both past and present musical traditions, was a Thanksgiving tribute to the first peoples of North America. Art from the Pueblo and Anasazi cultures were presented alongside traditional Native American songs.
Professor Cacioppo opened the presentation with a Native American rain dance song, before discussing with his colleague the different unique aspects of Native American music. The event, which was held in MacCrate Recital Hall, was a follow-up to Arciuli’s performance in Marshall on Sunday, November 20.
