This past weekend the campus played host to over 1000 alumni and their families from all over the country. Alumni Weekend 2014, which especially celebrated Fords from classes ending in 4s and 9s, included museum trips, books signings, walking tours, dinners, art openings, receptions, parties featuring alum bands, and panel discussions on topics as wide ranging as international security, the history of radio at the College, and the Haverford experience.
During the weekend’s festivities, the College community feted Alumni Award winners Stephen Sachs ’54, Richard Cooper ’64, John Heller ’89, Dave Barry ’69 (who gave a reading from his latest book, You Can Date Boys When You’re Forty, while on campus), Norman Pearlstine ’64, Jason Polykoff ’06, Erik Muther ’94, Monroe (Monty) Sonnenborn ’64, Abby Colbert ’99, Alex Buxbaum ’09, and Kyle Danish ’89.
This was Dan Weiss’ first Alumni Weekend as president, and he was a big part of many of its events, from his State of the College speech and Q&A session, to breakfast with the 50th reunion class and a reception at his home for the Class of ’89.
