Abandoning Reason, Scientists Embrace Cardboard and Construction Paper

Haverford’s science departments went full bore for April Fools’ Day. The results are impressive… and slightly concerning.

It’s April Fools’ Day, and the pranksters in the Koshland Integrated Natural Sciences Center (KINSC) are at it again. As is tradition, the center underwent a complete transformation as students from four departments—biology, chemistry, math, and physics and astronomy—adorned their areas with hilarious handmade decorations.

Biology and math took us deep into Mario’s Mushroom Kingdom and the boardwalk realm of Monopoly’s mustachioed mascot, Milburn “Rich Uncle” Pennybags (yes, that’s his actual name). Finding inspiration in the world of television and film, chemistry rolled out the red carpet in the rotunda while, in a mashup of science and sorcery, physics and astronomy showed off the rarest cards in its Magic: the Gathering collection.

Thanks, students, for bringing your decorating A-game and putting a smile on our faces!
