Sharon Williams ’23 is starting her post-grad career at the Vanguard Group, an investment advisory firm, where she works as a Portfolio Implementation Associate. Williams plans to further her education by attending graduate school to receive a Doctor of Psychology in clinical psychology.
While studying psychology at Bryn Mawr College, Williams learned of the many gaps in mental health research on children and adolescents, which has inspired her to establish her own private practice after graduate school and specialize in child and adolescent mental health. Cora Mukerji, Assistant Professor of Psychology at Bryn Mawr, influenced Williams’ future plans.“Her work in children’s studies is amazing and she deserves all the spotlight,” says Williams.
Beyond psychology, Williams enjoyed taking “Rap & Religion: Rhymes about God and the Good.” The course was taught by Terrance Wiley, who “opened [her] eyes to analyzing the music [she loves] in different ways.”
Williams was also an active student outside of the classroom, as she worked as a student interviewer in the Office of Admission and also as an administrative assistant at the Hurford Center for the Arts and Humanities. “Having two jobs on campus each semester helped me build my time management skills … [and] really helped me build a routine,” Williams adds.
Within the next seven years, Williams hopes to complete graduate school and earn her doctorate in psychology. She sends her best to fellow members of the Class of ’23. “I hope everyone manifests their dreams and discovers newfound interests they never imagined before! Sometimes we can surprise ourselves by how much we can change.”
