On Saturday, May 14, 2016, the College held its 178th Commencement, graduating the 297 members of the Class of 2016. The weather was perfect—blue, sunny skies, cool breezes, low humidity—so despite an earlier threat of rain, the ceremony was held outside on Roberts Hall Green. The audience—made up of friends and family of the Class of 2016 and the staff, students, and faculty who helped shape their Haverford experience—was treated to an address from Brian Guggenheimer ’16 and remarks from the student-chosen speaker Jeff Gladney, who has worked in the Dining Center for 18 years, as well as speeches from Bryn Mawr College President Kimberly Wright Cassidy, Haverford President Kim Benston, and two honorary degree recipients.
Those honorary degrees were conferred upon anti-poverty expert Robert Greenstein and prison-issues activist Laura Magnani.
