CLUB LIFE: Bringing Yoga To The Haverford Community

Power Posers is a relatively new student-run club that brings certified instructors from a local studio to campus for yoga classes that are free to students, faculty, and staff.

Student-run yoga club Power Posers hosts weekly yoga classes, providing a stress-free space for those looking to take a break from hectic everyday life and move their bodies. It is a popular endeavor; over 150 students are signed up for the club’s mailing list.

 

What: Power Posers aim to teach the Haverford community about yoga by bringing certified instructors from a local studio to campus for classes that are free to students, faculty, and staff.

Who: Matt Corbin ’16 and Amanda Fleming ’16 are the current co-heads of the club. Cristian Espinoza ’18 and Sydney Dorman ’19 (pictured above) will be the co-heads next year

When: The club started in Fall 2015.

Did you know: The word “yoga” comes from a Sanskrit word that means “to yoke.” The goal of yoga is to yoke, or bind, the body so that one may still the mind.
