We couldn’t have asked for better weather for Move-In Day 2017! The sun was out, the humidity was low, and there wasn’t a cloud in the bright blue sky on Aug. 30, as we officially welcomed the newest members of the Haverford community—the Class of 2021—to campus. Customs teams (and a certain helpful Black Squirrel) were out in force to help our newest students move their belongings into their homes in Barclay, Gummere, HCA, and Tritton, and to let them know how happy we all are that they are finally here.
Haverford’s Class of 2021 is an exceptional one, representing the College’s most selective year yet. The 352 individuals in this new class hail from 24 countries and 37 states, as well as D.C., Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, and Guam. Almost half (47%) identify as students of color, almost a third (28%) speak a language other than English at home, and almost a quarter (24%) have one or more parents who didn’t attend college. 95% of them were in the top 10% of their high schools.
Please join us in welcoming this group of outstanding young Fords!
